Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute on Sustainable Urban Freight Systems

2014 Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute on
Sustainable Urban Freight Systems (PASI-SUFS)
August 3rd - 15th, 2014

VREF Center of Excellence for Sustainable Urban Freight Systems (CoE-SUFS) with the support of the VREF MetroFreight Center of Excellence recently held the 2014 Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute on Sustainable Urban Freight Systems (PASI-SUFS).  PASI-SUFS was a summer school that brought together a select group of Senior Researchers, Junior Faculty, Post-Docs and advanced PhD students conducting research on sustainable urban freight systems (SUFS). The main goal was to develop a new generation of researchers and practitioners with a holistic view of SUFS issues and their solutions that, ultimately, will bring about new paradigms of freight transportation research, education and practice that foster SUFS.

The two week event took place in Bogota and Cartagena, Colombia in August 2014.  PASI-SUFS was organized by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in partnership with Universidad del Norte and Universidad de los Andes, and supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and VREF.  In total there were 54 participants from 13 countries.
