Laetitia Dablanc, a Research Director at IFSTTAR (Paris, France), one of the core partners in CoE MetroFreight, was invited to present VREF Theme Urban Freight at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Expert Meeting on Sustainable Freight Transport, which was held in Geneva on Oct 14-16, 2015.
The discussions addressed challenges and opportunities for urban freight systems, and how these can best be addressed in order to seize opportunities, particularly in developing countries' megacities. Delegates from several countries (China, several Latin American countries, Morocco) expressed specific interest in urban freight issues. NGOs such as Climate & Clean Air Coalition, SLoCaT, ICCT, Smart Freight Centre expressed interest in further developing contacts with VREF.
