This book, as one of the China Urban Sustainable Transport Research series, has been finished based on the project funded by Volvo Research and Educational Foundations. The book series started to be published since 2007 and from 2009 the book series expanded its content from China's central cities to the entire cities and address major issues in sustainable transport development each year. The book series in 2009, which named Smooth, efficient, safe, green-Main issues of sustainable urban public transport in China, mainly talked about the significance for sustainable transport development, its progress and major problems, thus proposing to implement public transport development priority strategy laid by the central government by means of promoting public transport to attract passengers. This book can provide guide for relevant department in working out public transport development strategy, policy, planning, design and research, and can be a reference book for university teachers and students.
