Biography:
Frederik Pretorius is an Associate Professor in the Department of Real Estate and Construction and The University of Hong Kong and concentrates on Project and Real Estate Finance and Investment. He has work experience in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa as an academic, professional and as a consultant in various activities and industries, including in the corporate sector in the fields of regional economic development, real estate development, building and mining, and process engineering. Before joining Hong Kong University, he lectured at the University of Canberra in Australia, and previously at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Dr. Pretorius holds a BSc in Quantity Surveying and a Masters in Business Administration (Witwatersrand) and a PhD in Real Estate Finance (Hong Kong).
He has written a number of articles in refereed journals, including:
Exploitation, Expropriation and Capital Assets: The Economics of Commercial Real Estate Leases´, The Journal of Real Estate Literature, Vol. 11 No. 3, pp3-34, (with A VREF Application ID No. CoE 2005-6 07/10/2006 Walker and K W Chau) (2003).
