The Governance of Metropolitan Transport Systems

Decision-makers and academics from different parts of the world gathered in Lund to discuss how political agency and systems governing public transport interact and vary between countries. The conference was a joint initiative by the VREF and K2.

The meeting was attended by more than 70 international decision-makers and academics

The attendees were given the opportunity to discuss and comment governing examples from different parts of the world, in order to overcome the distance between practice and academic research on public transport.

Presentations given at the conference can be found here.

K2 is Sweden's national centre for research and education on public transport.

This is where academia, the public sector and industry meet to discuss and develop the role of public transport in Sweden.

K2 investigates how public transport can contribute to attractive and sustainable metropolitan areas of the future, educates members of the public transport sector and informs decision-makers to facilitate an educated debate on public transport.

K2 is operated and funded by Lund University, Malmö University and VTI in cooperation with Region Stockholm, Region Västra Götaland and Region Skåne. K2 is supported by Vinnova, Formas and the Swedish Transport Administration.
