Urban Freight International Research Seminar

The Urban Freight Platform (UFP) invites you to an international research seminar on urban freight. The focus of the seminar is presenting international and local urban freight research on a range of urban freight issues. The seminar includes a presentation by the international speaker Quan "Jack" Yuan (University of Southern California), complemented with presentations by researchers from the UFP.

About the speakers

Quan "Jack" Yuan (Yawn) is a PhD candidate in Urban Planning and Development at Price School of Public Policy at University of Southern California. His research interests include urban transportation and land use, urban freight planning, and parking policy. He got his Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning from Peking University in 2011 and Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA in 2013. He is now working with Professor Genevieve Giuliano on the MetroFreight Project in USC METRANS Center.

Sönke Behrends is an assistant professor in urban logistics at Chalmers University of Technology. His primary research interest is to advance the understanding of the interaction between logistics, transport and land-use and to develop solutions to improve the sustainability of urban logistics operations. His expertise is in impact assessment of logistics measures, urban freight planning and intermodal transport. 

Anders Levandi is a Master’s student in Supply Chain Management at Chalmers University of Technology. He graduated with honors from Tallinn University of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics. Having worked at Ericsson, he has experiences in ICT, operational sourcing, market logistics, and order & delivery management. He is currently working on a Master’s thesis project in Urban Freight Distribution at Volvo Group Trucks Technology.

Jimmy Mårdberg is a Master's student in Supply Chain Management at Chalmers University of Technology. He has previous work experience in warehousing (Clas Ohlson AB) and production (SKF). He has also visited one of Walmart's regional warehouses in the United States, which adds to the experience in logistics. Jimmy is currently working on a Master’s thesis project in Urban Freight Distribution at Volvo Group Trucks Technology.
