BRT+ Monthly Webinar: Scalable On-Demand Mobility Services

This session of BRT webinar will be presented by Pascal Van Hentenryck, from Georgia Tech, on Tuesday 22nd Januari, at 12:00 EST.

The convergence of several technology enablers, including ubiquitous connectivity, autonomous vehicles, and sophisticated analytics, provides unique opportunities to fundamentally transform mobility in the next decade. Ride-sourcing services have already modernized taxi services but they have also increased congestion and widened inequalitiesin accessibility. This talk looks at mobility from a logistics and supply chain angle and presents novel on-demand mobility services that have the potential to be scalable and sustainable, handling both the first/last mile problem and congestion. Case studies demonstrating novel mobility services will also be presented.ents, not only in the Brazilian context, but also in other contexts where BRT is steadily growing.

Pascal Van Hentenryck is the A. Russell Chandler III Chair and Professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to this appointment, Van Hentenryck was a Professor of Computer Science at Brown University for 20 years, the leader of the Optimization Research Group at National ICT Australia (about 70 people), and the Seth Bonder Collegiate Professor at the University of Michigan. Van Hentenryck’s current research is focusing artificial intelligence, data science, and operations research with applications in energy systems, mobility, and privacy.
